The flights of stairs themselves are made of wood and lead up to the fifth floor.  

There is an entrance to the basement on the south-west side of the building, which leads to the staircase at the rear. This has a spiral staircase made of precast concrete steps, which connects all floors with 20 steps per flight. In addition, an elevator in a modern glass shaft was added to the rear staircase in the inner courtyard to further facilitate access to the upper floors.
